Friday, 3/20: Who Should Write State Laws? The Role of Uniform Model Legislation
Recently there has been significant controversy as to the appropriate role of model or uniform legislation drafted by groups other than members of the State Legislature. To what extent should the Arizona legislature adopt proposed bills that come from law reform groups or interest groups that may have a stake in the legislation? Four members of the Arizona Uniform Law Commission will discuss the issues, explain the Uniform Law process, and highlight the different methods by which model legislation is drafted and presented to legislatures for adoption.
